Serum or Plasma Pepsinogen I (P/S-PGI)
Pepsinogen I (PGI) is mainly secreted by the chief cells of corpus stomach mucosa. The level of PGI in the blood reflects its level in the stomach, and the level of PGI in the blood is an indicator of corpus atrophy (1). In cases where PGI levels are over 30 µg/l, there is a very small probability of corpus atrophy.
